The Royal Oak, Tabard Street SE1. It's as if this wonderful little pub has been preserved in a time warp! Even the staff are friendly and polite in a way that is reminiscent of a bygone age. When I was a boy pubs with a tiled frontage like this one were commonplace, now most have gone. The excellent beer is from Harveys, a small independent brewery on the south coast and this is the only pub belonging to them in the London area. Even the sign is something special!
